The Annie Awards

Bobbin’s Comments in the Vox Daily  at Voices.com blog on the Annie Awards

Tis the season for awards, for sure, and I hear many comments like, "who needs another awards show".....but this one should be special to voice actors and actresses. Working more in animation is a personal goal of mine. By all indications, and according to "Daily Variety" magazine, the animation/anime "toon" field is more than alive and well. "Happy Feet" is an absolute box office hit. Animation presents opportunities beyond Dreamworks, Disney and Pixar. Even though my favorite winners this year include "Cars", and the choice roles go to numerous Hollywood A-list film actors, and an established "in-group" of LA v/o favorites, I believe there are plenty of avenues for talented voice over artists everywhere else to capably embellish many productions in this growing industry. In my view, anything that voice acting pioneer June Foray is associated with goes to the heart of the business of animation, and by definition, voice acting. This particular awards event, The Annies, is "great news" for "the rest of us", so keep training, creating, and knocking.
