Bobbin's entry #1 on VOICE 2008

Thursday, August 7th, 7:00 AM:

I write this about 1 hour before I get into the car and head north 100 miles for the City of Angels. I started packing yesterday. Put stuff into the car last night, and will finish this morning. My computer , mic set up will be the last thing to be packed as I gather email and take care of some business & auditions and reply to clients.

I don't need to worry much about wardrobe to "impress". Since I am on staff for the event, I'll actually be in a pre-determined uniform most of the weekend.  This is cool- as it will take pressure off and save me time, which I suspect will feel scarce as this event unfolds. I don't know my complete work schedule, but know this year's event is quite a bit bigger than last years's and there will be plenty of additional staff meetings and debriefings in between sessions.

I am really excited about this. I hear the Red Carpet reception attendance may be over 600 persons tonight. I hope my energy stays high. I am gonna need it. I've been up early (5:30) the past two days and really hittin' it, with personal, business, and VOICE  conference details. I know James & Penny have put everything on the line and have worked tirelessly for a year to put it together. And now it is here.

I figure I'll arrive at the hotel around 10:30AM.  I'll check my email to see if I need to do anything for my clients. I'm scheduled to work registration 12:45-2:45. Then a 2 hour break. Figure I'll get checked in to my room and settle in there and handle any regular client stuff then. At 4:45, staff will have a special kick-off toast to VOICE and then  we scurry to check in for the Red Carpet by 5:15. Over 600! WOW. I can't even imagine how it will be with that many famous and infamous voice over talents, agents, producers and more will be talking at the same time.

I have agreed to be part of VoiceOver Xtra's bloggin' Dream Team, so the next few days will be all about VOICE 2008. Photos will also be published.

Well I need to tend to business. More later.

A "pre-determined uniform"? Sounds like t-shirts to me!

That's how I felt I got paid when I worked in radio back in the day. Every new movie sent a promo pack with t shirts that the jocks received.

The more things change, the more they stay the same.

Have fun. Say hi to everyone for me.

    Best always,
